EAST VOGELTOWN AFFAIRS
The annual meeting of-the E;ist Vogeltown Progressive Association was held last week, Mr. A. Black presiding over a .good attendance. The annual report stated that a considerable amount of work had been done recently on road improvement. The balance-sheet disclosed a sound position.
Some discussion took place on the question of the uniform widening,of Hutchison road. In its present state the width of the road varied from approximately 36ft to 17ft, and it was considered that such a variation of- widtli was a source- of danger, especially to heavy traffic. The matter of the controlling of "traffic at the bottom of Hutchison road during the period when the Winter Show was open was also the subject of adverse criticism, and it was decided to approach the City Council with the view to having better arrangements made. Reference was also made to the large slip which had come down in M'Coll street several days ago, and it was decided to urge its immediate clearing. The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted: —President, Mr. A. Black; vice-president, Mr. Len. Studley; secretary and treasurer, Mr. C. Hewitt; committee, Messrs. A. Bruce, A. M'Comish, G. Olleroushaw, and V. M'Comish; auditor, Mr. ft. Brown; social committee, Mesdames Black, Bruce, and Studley, and Messrs. Studley and Bruce.
