AIR TOUR OF EAST

(British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, 25th March. Two'lris flying-boats of No. 209 Squadron left the Mountbatten air station, near Plymouth, yesterday on an out-and-home flight to Egypt., Two or three weeks will be occupied in the flight, which will cover about 4250 miles. Air Chief-Marshal Sir John Salmond, who is duo to leave England on 30th March to carry out an official tour of tho Eoyal Air Force in the East, will cover part of his journey in one of these flying-boats, joining it at Marseilles. This is the first time the Chief of Staff has made an overseas inspection since Lord Trenehard visited Egypt in 1922. ' From Marseilles the flying-boats will proceed to Malta and Sollum, on tho north coast of Africa, wheno; Sir John Salmond will proceed by land aeroplane. He will inspect units in Egypt, Palestine, and Transjordania.
