WELLINGTON AND UNIVERSITY.

Wellington, after their previous clearcut win, are evidently out after another, for after making 208 runs for the loss of seven wickets at No. 2 wicket at the Basin Reserve, they declared, and sent University in. University made a good start; and at the drawing of stumps had put on 75 runs for one wicket. Wellington's chances of thus getting University out cheaply are lessened, leaving matters in an interesting stage for the resumption of play next Saturday. Whyte, Hollings, and Morgan made good scores for Wellington. Harrison bowled well for University, performing the "hat trick" by dismissing Airey, Cousins, and Blundell with successive balls. Pacey (37 not out) batted soundly for University. Worker and Whyte opened for Wellington. Both were going well when Worker fell lbw to Aim's bowling. Whyte continued to bat vigorously after being joined by Holliugs, until he was caught by Williams off M'Leod's bowling. HoHings and Morgan were then associated in a profitable partnership. • Hollings scored with a pretty variety of shots all round the wicket. Rollings was run out after making 58. anil Airey was next in. Morsan was canglit by Blanclford off Aim's bowling, and then Harrison took his three successive wickets. Fay and Symcs were at the crease when the side declared. Nelson and Pacey were University's opening pair. Thej were separated when Blundell bowled Nelson, wlio had made 20. Blandforrl followed, and ha and his partner were scoring freely -
