EMPLOYERS AND T.U.C.

MACDONALD'S INVITATION-

LONDON, 17th February. The Confederation of Employers and the Trades Union General Council have accepted Mr. Ramsay Mac Donald'- invitation to send delegates on 19th February to discuss the industrial situation. The Prime Minister will meet delegations separately. It is understood that the Trades Union Council- is greatly critical of the employers' proposals.

The National Confederation of Employers, an organisation claiming to represent organisations normally employing 7,000,000, forwarded to all members of Parliament, a statement urging, in view of the depression and unemployment, various proposals, including a reduction hi unemployment benefit, a review of Government an. local authorities' wage levels in relations to exporting industries, the appointment of a National Economy Committee, and fixing a maximum sum to be expended on social service; and also that there bo no legislation further burdening industry until unemployment is reduced 5 per cent. \
