LONDON, 16th February. ! In the course of the debate in the House of Commons on the motion of the Minister of Labour,. Miss Bondfield, to authorise an increase of £20,000,----000 in the- borrowing powers of tho Unemployment Insuraneo Fund, Major W. E. Elliott (C.), said that tho Government was refusing to face the facts, and was taking the easy course. The time for holding an inquest had come. Mr. J. J. La'wson (Lab.) said armchair critics ought to realise that the country, was insured against not only starvation, but moral degeneration, crime, and social disorder. The amendment limiting the borrowing powers, was lost by 220 votes to 251, and the- resolution was agreed to.,
