ECONOMIC POSITION

SNOWDEN TELLS LABOUR

NO ATTACK ON WAGES

Dnlted Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. (Received 18th February, noon.) , LONDON, 17th February. Mr. Philip Snowden, at a meeting of the Labour Party, specially called to hear him expound further his financial policy, complained of a misreading and misinterpretation of last week's speech. His references to imminent sacrifices meant increased taxation and suspension of schemes of social development and in nowise- implied a possible at-1 tack on wages. The full blast of the economic blizzard had come on his head. He objected to every warning of his being treated as an act of perfidy. Ho was convinced that, Labour men, when they recognised the hard facts they were up against, would not shirk facing them.
