GALLOPS AT RICCARTON
(By Telegraph.) (Special to "The Evening Post.") CHRISTOHUECH, This Day. Conditions were pleasant for training operations at Ricearton this morning. Outside the course proper was open for fast work, and provided good going. Proceedings were not particularly exciting, and most of the horses who had raced at Wingatui last week had an easy time, but some useful gallops were registered by others with engagements next Saturday. Pride opened proceedings with a working gallop over seven furlongs which occupied lmin 37 3-ssec, Jaloux joining in the last, half-mile, which took 55sec.
Muff did seven furlongs alone in lmin 31 4-ssec, going at an even pace throughout the journey. Solvent had Shatter as a mate over half a mile sprint up the back in 50 sec. Solvent ia very well, while Shatter looks none the worse for his race at "Wingatui. AberfeWy, with Gala Bay to bring him home, covered six furlongs in lmin 18sec, the last half-mile in 51 4-ssee. He is in excellent order for immediate racing. Meprisant went about a mile, taking lmin 32seo over the- last seven furlongs. Huntly and the Hunting Song gelding sprinted half a mile in 51 2-ssec. Full Feather and Straightcourse were companions over a mile in lmin 46 sec, with an even pace all the way. They finished on terms. Craigavon and Coroner wero together at the end of five furlongs, in lmin 4sec. Spoon, with her owner as a spectator, covered seven furlongs in lmin 31 2-ssec. She showed a lot of speed in the early stages, doing the first three furlongs in 37 3-ssec, but she was slowing down at the finish. Charmeuse ran seven furlongs in lrnin 32 2-ssec. The pace was slow ia the early stages, but sho did the last half-mile in 52sec. Miss Bradbury did five furlongs in lmin sscc. Solwit, Royal Love, and Kamo finished in that order at two-length intervals, after going five furlongs, Solwit registering lmin ssec. The Viscount and Mistress Quichley occupied lmin 7sec in a run over five furlongs. Giggleswich and Semper Paratus were companions over a mile. The former was the early leader, but there was not much betweon them at the winning post, where Giggleswich.'s ad-
vantage was only half a length. The time was lmin 4osec, after an even pace all the way. Bronzewood occupied lmin 18 3-ssec over six furlongs. Great Star did six furlongs in lmin 18sec, and was going very well at tho finish. Grand Eeview was running on strongly at the end of half a mile covered in 50 2-ssee. Sleipner occupied lmin 38see in a working gallop over seven furlongs. Hoylake finished well clear of Desert ■ Song in a useful mile gallop done in, lmin 47 3-ssec, and looked as it he could have done better. Pixie Gold reeled off six furlongs attractively in lmin 17 4-ssec. Some Acre ran six furlongs in linin. 18 l-ssee, after giving a start to Knockany, who beat him home by a. neck. The last half-mile occupied 53 2-ssec, but Some Acre was going comfortably. Grand Acre took 51 3-ssec for half a mile. Homecoming and Bonrose sprinted half a mile smartly in 50 2-ssec. Miss Mercia, going easily, did six furlongs in lmin 19 3-ssec. Taragona covered five furlongs in lmin 6 3-ssec, and did it well. Coll occupied lmin 20sec over six furlongs. _Tray Bond and Adelphi were associated in a half-mile sprint up the back' in 50 3-ssec. Lambent, assisted over the last halfmile by Bridgeen, took lmin 35 3-Ssee for seven furlongs, but was going easily for the first half. Minerva! covered six furlongs attractively in lmin 17 4-ssec, Convoy and Bed Arrow joining in the last three furlongs. Evening beat Thorndale by several lengths over seven furlongs in lmin 34 2-ssec. Tautbow occupied lmin 22sec over six furlongs, and Te Awhina sprinted half a mile in 51 l-ssec, and did it well. Limerick was not worked, being, restricted to walking exercise in the centre of the course. He received a kick from a stable-mate while the pair wera running in a paddock together, and as the result he showed signs of lameness. Amorist, who returned home from Wingatui looking in the best of health' after his two hurdle successes, is having a rest for a week, after which ha will resume useful work in preparation for his autumn engagements. The three-year-old Sharp Thorn, following on the sale by Sir Charles Clifford, was taken over on his return from Wingatui by the new owner, Mr,. W. Norman, and has gone to E. W. Bang's stable. Sharp Thorn may win a race before long. The Trentham trainer, G. Jones, arrived this morning with Lady Pam, Pat's Boy, Spear Lad, and the tjwo-year-olds Maritime and Cape Gold, to fulfil engagements on Saturday.
