BULLER BEAT WEST COAST
WESTPORT, 16th August. In cold, wet weather > this afternoon, Buller Rugby representatives (14) defeated West Coast (9). Buller hadL the wind and rain in its favour in the first spell, and rattled on 14 points—tries by E. Holder and Goodall, one of which was converted by Gilbert, who also kicked two penalty goals. In the second spell West Coast was more often attacking, and Kennedy potted a rieat goal, and Davidson scored a try, which Martyn converted. * The Buller forwards p played wtih great dash and determination, but the backs lacked cohesion. West Coast put more vim into its play in the second spell, and the backs improved "as the game proceeded.
