' »,.,,' Backed by. a strong southerly Thistle pressed hotly, but shot wildly till Wellwood netted-from the. wing. A good nlaceinent by Cunningham and a cross by Jones for A. White' to connect saw 'Thistle 2 up. with prospects of a runaway victory. Harland was prominent m the Technical • defence, .md Redmond brought off a series of good saves, but was well beaten by a beautiful long drive from M'Phail. The same player raised the total to 4 when his parting shot cannoned off a defender into the net. Despite strenuous efforts by Eaxworthy and Kitto,.play was confined to the Old Boys' half, Thistle backs'easily frustrating every attack. On resuming, Thistle pressed, the forwards'backed by Cunningham, keeping the ball low against the wind. At the other end, .'Gates found .tlie''wood : in his.way twice, while a hot drive by. Kitto- was tipped over the bar by Fletcher. . Technical now had a, say, but the few shots on the mark were ably dealt with by the big fellow in Thistle, goal. A free to the "Boys" was well placed by Harland, and from a general mix-up/ Wooliscroft notched a.smart goal. A feature of the play in^his'spell was the fine,kicking of Hopper. A rather tame game ended with the scores: Thistle 4, Technical Old Boys 1. The referee was Mr. J. Browell.
