DUNEDIN, This Day
Claiming that she has never met a real gentleman in. Glasgow, a young lady of the Scottish city has written to the Mayor of Dunedin asking him to assist her in obtaining a husband. She asks to be put in touch with the name of a young man who desires to get married. She states that she is an orphan, twenty-four years of age, that she ha.s worked to earn her living since she was fourteen, and that she is not afraid of hard work of any kind..
"You will perhaps wonder why I.am writing to you," she writes, _ "when there are plenty of young men in Glasgow, but I have been out with many of them, and Ihave never found a real gentleman yet. I had an uncle who oiiee lived in Dunedin, «nd he told me the people there were nice and homely. I am willing to send more particulars, and I hope you will endeavour, to do something for me. Please do not lot my name get into the papers, as it would embarrass me." . '
