PETONE-HUTT GAS BOARD
The report of the works manager (Mr. H. Appleyard) for the month of April, which was presented to the monthly, meeting of the Petone and Lower Hutt Gas Lighting Board last night stated that from 602 tons of coal carbonised, 4699 gallons of oil, 41 tons Gcwt of coke and 38 tons 15ewt of coal used thero had been manufactured 9,171,000 cubic feet, of gas. Its average calorific value was 475 B Th. U., and th 4 increased manufacture over April, 1929, was 100,000 cubic foot. Coal, tar,'and coke in stock on Ist May were estimated to amount to 217 tons llewt, 8200 gallons and .95 tons respectively. During the month 42 ne;w services, 44 cookers,, 7, coppers, 3 caliphouts; 'and 3 other appliances were installed, and 31 chains 54 feet of mains were laid.
