SINKING OF JAPANESE STEAMER .
i TOKIO, Gth March. The captain and quartermaster are the sole survivors of tho Fukuju Mam, which foundered on the north coast in a blizzard. Thirty-one were drowned. The Hakußhin Maru picked up three clinging to, spars after being five hours in the freezing water, but the third did not recover consciousness. The captain said that he was pursuing a similar course in very heavy weather when a sudden crash stove in the vessel's bottom. The hands reached the deck and were ordered to the boats, but waves swept over and the ship sank immediately.
