PRIME MINISTER'S APPRECIATION
The Prime Minister (the Eight Hon. Sir Joseph Ward) has forwarded the following message from Eotorua:—"l have just heard with great pleasure of the very generous donations which Mr. and Mrs. T. Dwan, of Wellington, have provided in connection with the British Empire Cancer Campaign. The recent gifts of £1000 by them to the New Zealand movement, and of £500 to the Wellington Centre, afforded evidence of their practical sympathy with the earnest efforts now being put in hand to deal with a very jdifficult problem.
I "The further intimation that Mr. and Mrs. Dwan will make provision for not less than an additional bequest of £10,000 towards the fund in New Zealand is worthy of the whole-hearted gratitude of the citizens of this Dominion, and I desire to express on behalf of the Government our keen appreciation of Mr. and Mrs, Dwan's publicspirited benevolence. Their action in this matter indeed affords a splendid example to those who have the means and the desire to contribute to come forward and generously support so worthy a cause, which aims at the alleviation of widespread suffering and the elimination of a scourge whose increasing ravages give ground for serious anxiety not only in our own midst, but also in other countries of the world.''
