TARANAKI OIL FIELDS

GISBORNE, This Day. Taranaki Oil Fields report: "Gisborne No. 2 well drilled to 3250 ft, the last 50ft very hard, limey sandstone. Gas now smells strongly of petroleum. Small quantity of water making below 3200 ft; now endeavouring to mud this off."
