The Suburbs Club fired over the long ranges, 800 and 900 yards, at Trentbam on Saturday, for the championship, No. 2 series, and the Newton Ciip. ; A steady; fresh breeze was blowing from the right, and the conditions were for good scoring; At 800 yards Stewart, 47, and Curaing, 46, made the outstanding scores, and at 000 yards Peat's 47 was exceptionally good. At the combined ranges Drake and Ciiming burst the club's standard of 91, a rare event, and with their handicaps were placed first and second respectively. Peat made the;remarkably fine gun sec c of 89, and was -top,off the rifle. Great praise was'given to the unexpectedly fine shooting of Drake and Cuming in outshooting the scratch mcii-, and in individually getting such good range totals. The club advanced another stage for the championship, and Peat's fine score of 89 off scratch placed him in the lead. With one range score notched out, and twelve range totals still to go, the following are the leading totals: Peat, 553; Hunt, 545; M'Lean, 542; Goodall, 535; Stewart, 526; Fellingham, 526.
