WORLD ALLIANCE

PROMOTING FRIENDSHIP

WORK OF THE CHURCHES

British Official Wireless.

RUGBY, 12th'November. The Duke of York addressed a meetnig of the World Alliance for- Promoting International Friendship through the Churches. The meeting was held at No 10, Downing street and Miss Ishbel MacDouald presided. The Archbishop of Canterbury, Lord Davidson (the cxAichbishop), and Lord Parmoor were present.

The Duke paid a tribute to tho work of tho alliance. He said that whether or not peace or war in the future was to be the means of settling disputes must depend on the way in which the youth of the world is educated. The horrors of the last war to the generation now growing up were rather the same as older people might look upon the Crimean War. It was not the horrors of the past, but a right understanding of the problems which faced us that would achieve the result which Ye ardently desired.
