BOWLING

WELLINGTON CENTRE

A meeting of the Wellington Bowling Centre was held in the Wellington Club Pavilion last evening. Mr. H. Mayer was in the chair.

The hon. treasurer, Mr. J. Kershaw, reported that the credit balance was £62 7s lid. Eastbourne, Hutt, Island Bay, Karori, Khandallah, Upper Hutt, and Woburn Clubs had not yet paid their levies.

The president, the treasurer, and Mr. Marcus Marks were appointed the green selection committee for the centre tournament.

It was decided that, subject to the "date being suitable to the Christchureh Centre, the Barnett Tiki match should be played on 10th January. Mr. Marcus Marks, delegate, from the Victoria Club, said that it had been hoped that the visit would fit in with the visit which the Victoria Club players would make to Christchureh to play their annual match with tho St. Albans Club, but the later club. had advised that the date mentioned would not be suitable. However, that should not affect the Barnett Tiki match.

Tho president remarked that the Canadian bowlers would now arrive in Wellington ,on 20th January, and would leave for the South on 22nd January. At that time the Dominion Tournament would be in full swing. The president and Messrs. Kershaw, Hodgins, Gray, Lowry, and Marks were appointed a committee to go into the question of entertainment of the visitors.

The matter of procedure in the playing of the Edwin Feathers: and Hill Pins competitions was mentioned. Karori at present hold the Edwin Feathers and Hataitai the Hill Pins, but complications have arisen as the result of the holders not having notified the next challengers of the dates on which matches should be played. It was decided that Hataitai and Kelburn should be given the opportunity of playing in the Hill Pins on a day to be arranged this week, preferably Thursday, failing which the next challengers, Petone, should meet the holders next Wednesday. Hutt defaulted to Karori in the Edwin Feathers last Saturday; Lyall Bay will meet Karori on Saturday.
