HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY

A meeting of the General Committee of the "Wellington Horticultural Society was held last evening, Dr. A. Izard presiding. Further consideration was given to the boundaries of the suburban spcieties, and it was decided after considerable discussion to adhere to the former decision of the committee to extend the boundary of the Miramar Society to embrace all the area east of the Mount Victoria range.

The statement of receipts and expenditure in connection with the Spring Show, presented by the secretary, showed a balance in hand and was considered very satisfactory. The president stressed the value of the good work done by the ladies of the society, in running the tea rooms, which added greatly to the social aspect of the shows.

Mr. Guy "Wilson, it was reported, would visit Wellington again before leaving for the Old Country. It was decided to hold a horticultural evening in his honour on Thursday, 21at November, in conjunction with the New Zealand Institute of Horticulture. All interested in horticulture are to be invited to be present. A display of roses and pansies is to be made. The B. M. Griffiths Memorial Trophy, presented for- competition among the rose-growers in the suburbs in memory of the late Mr. E. M. Griffiths, was displayed by the donors. It was decided that in future competitions a miniature cup should be given to the winner.
