A PLEASANT RECEPTION
Many people adjourned to the galleries of the Lower House, to witness the "swearing-in" of some new members, and the usual asking of questions and giving notices-of motion. These lasted till later than usual, ana made the tea party which followed, and which was given by the Prime Minister and Mrs. B. B. Wood in the large reception-room in the Old Parliamentary Building, seem specially welcome. The room was crowded with guests. These.included all the Cabinet Ministers and their, wives, members of Parliament and their \vives, and,-in some cases, daughters, visitors to 'Wellington, and many citizens. Her Excellency was present, attended by Lord Waleran, and Captain Boyle, and with her also came the members of the house party, Mrs; Baird, Countess Thelma Metexa, find Mrs. J. Studholme. The decorations on the tea tables consisting largely of Iceland poppies, autumn folliage, and fern, were much admired, and were arranged by Miss Black. Sir Joseph Ward and Mrs. Wood received the guests, among whoni were Mrs. C. W. Salmon (who wore red maroeain, with- small pearl spangles and red hat), Lady Huuter, Lady M'Gavin, the Chief Justice and Mrs. Myers, Sir.
