Petone were easily beaten by Wesley at Petone. Wesley attacked early and, although driven out by an infringement, came back. A nice combined movement ended in a score by Rouse, which was quickly followed by another off Johnston's, stick. Petone took a turn for a while, but although they pressed hard, and were awarded two corners, they were unable to find the net. Wesley again took charge and another nice wing movement paved the way for a goal by Johnston. Although making an occasional sally into their opponents' territory, Petone were mainly on the defensive, Cochran making some good saves. Before half-time several penalty corners were conceded by Wesley, but Petone failed to take advantage of them and the spell ended with Wesley leading- 3-0.. Matters were going badly for Petone early in the second session, and it was' not long before a scramble in front of the posts resulted in Pyle scoring. A few minutes later Rouse notched his second goal.' The Petone wings were centring well, but the inside forwards did not make the most of their opportunities. Wesley returned to the attack, and Rouse scored from a penalty corner. Wesley had all the better of matters until the finish, Gochran effecting some great saves for Petone.
