TYPE OF BUILDING APPROVED
(Special to "Tilt Evtnlnq Post.") AUCKIiANX), This Day. The modern school building is preferred by Auckland headmasters to the open-air type, for which there has recently been some advocacy. At a meeting of the Headmasters' Association the following resolution was carried:—"That having heard the opinion of headmasters with experience of the modern type of school building now in vogue in the Auckland district, and having also heard from the Education Board's architect of further improvements suggested for future buildings, this meeting is of opinion: (a) That modern buildings are highly satisfactory for school purposes; (b) that the lighting and ventilation are such that there is a minimum of strain on th« eyos of pupils and teachers,; and, a maximum of fresh air 'circulation; (c) that from / a hygienic .point-of view the«e buildings could scarcely'be. excelled; (d) that ■ the advantages of these buildings' for teaching {purposes far outweigh,.those suggested;•.. by the reports on open air schools now; in use <in some parts of the Dominion."
