FARMERS' UNION PROTESTS "Those- who voted against Mr. Sidey's Bill in the first place havo a lot to do to reconcile their consciences," said Mr. O. P. Lynch (Manawatu) at a meeting of the Dominion Farmers' Union executive to-day, when protesting against the half-hour Summer Time plan. A Delegate: "The whip cracked." Mr. Lynch: "Yes, they were loyal to their party. They were looking to their constituents. Even Otaki was prepared to turn back the wheel of progress in that little town." Other delegates claimed that they had not had a fair deal, and one said the half-hour was the thiii edge of the wedge, and that the full hour would be asked for next. ' Mr. W. J. Poison said that thirtyseven voted against daylight saving when an independent measure was before the House, but the moment the Government brought down a Bill they all voted for it. Ho supposed the members thought it was a compromise. Mr. Lynch moved that the executive protest against daylight saving. '<Let them sec if we haven't changed they have," he said. The motion was carried, as well as a motion of thanks to those members who had opposed the full hour's daylight.
