TRADE-MARK DISPUTE
Argument over a trade mark advertising tinned salmon was heard by Mr. Justice MacGregor in the Supreme Court to-day, when opposition to the registration of a trade mark was made by Irvine, Stevenson's St. George Co., Ltd. It was stated that the opponents were the proprietors of a trade mark consisting of the word sovereign," which had been used by it in respect of tinned or canned fish and meat for many years. It was contended that the trade mark sought to be registered by the Anglo-British Columbia Packing Co., Ltd., comprised as'an essential particular the word sovereign," and registration was sought in respect of tinned fish." It was claimed that the use of the trade. mark was calculated to deceive and cause contusion.
