Thistle kicked off, but the first attack came from Institute. Millar centred nice4 ly from the left living, but Dickinson was waiting offside. A little later May tried ;with a long shot, but Kirkland was able to :clear. May was putting in a lot; of ■ ' ."work, but his kicking lacked judgment. ■ Jeffries had a shot from a corner kick, but: the ball was blocked by the Thistle backs. The. strong wind was assisting In- ' "'Stilute,' and their forwards were trying long-shots. Eventually Thistle broke the spell,: and a nice piece of work between Logan and H. Campbell saw the latter shoot, wildly. Institute rallied again, but Maddocks refused to'accept a chance right in front of the goal. His kick went yards over the top of the crossbar. Dickinson also missed a fine centre by Miller, who was. making good on the left wing. May tried with a long shot, and Kirkland was lucky to save, the ball striking his chest,; and luckily bouncing the right way. In-" ■. stitute were getting all of the .play, and ■ Jeffries just missed> with a low, swift shot. After numerous attempts, May at lost managed to get one past Kirkland from a cross kick from the right. Institute!, Thistle 0. Institute kept .up the . pressure,, but shots at goal went sadly astray, Dickinson missing badly with only .'■ tke goalkeeper to beat. The spell ended with Institute one ahead. With the wiftd behind them in the sec- ' oud spell, Thistle set out in businesslike fashion. Logan had a shot from the right wing, but Tarrant effected a good V clearance. A, little later Lothian just ; - skimmed the crossbar with a shot. Then ■'.■':•■■■- came a sudden rush, by Institute, and ■ nice' play oh the right wing saw Dickinson get home with a great shot. Institute 2, Thistje 0, Again Thistle attacked, , but their efforts in front of the goal were weak. Institute came away again, and ."■ the Thistle, goal had a. narrow escape. . Tarrant 'distinguished himself by saving brilliantly twice in succession, both shots coming from Logan. Institute broke away again, and good work ended in Maddocks beating Kirkland. Institute 3, Thistle 0. Just'towards the close of the game Thistle managed to finish off a movement. D. Campbell scoring: Institute 3, Thistle 1. There was no further scoring.
