LODGE MEETINGS

„ The quarterly meeting of the Wellington United Frieadly Societies' Council was held recently, Bro. F. J. Jones, 1.0.0. F., president, being in the chair. There was a good attend? ance of delegates. The audited balance-sheet for the preceding year was adopted. The secretary reported several applications for hospital official visitors' passes.. Bro. Twort, Tramways Benefit Society, was elected vice-presi-dent. Reports were received from the Executive Committee, and in relation to the IT.F.S. Parliamentary Committee. It was decided to arrange for a combined friendly societies' picnic at Karori' Park on 22nd January, and to place an address board for branches and secretaries in U.F.S. dispensary.

Esther Eebekah Lodge No. 30, 1.0.0. F., N.Z., Brooklyn, held its fortnightly meeting last week, Sister V. Newson, N.G., presiding. Official visits were received from Sister E. Wheeler, N.G., and officers of Rose of Wellington Kebeltah Lodge, Sister M. Shepherd, N.G.,. and officers of Victoria Rebekah Lodge, Sister' SI. Sergent and officers of Kahiri Kebekali* Lodge, and Bro. A. J. Craighead, N.G., and officers of Wildey Lodge. A ritual competition was held for the term district ritual badges,Bros. F. J. Jones, P.G., T. C. E. Turner, P.G., and B. W. Wheeler, P.G., acting as judges. A most enjoyable social evening was then held.

'The fortnightly meeting of Waipora Lodge No. 99, 1.0.0. F., N.Z., Masterton, was held last week, Bro, A. Jfacallster, N.G., presiding over a good attendance. A death benefit of £250 was passed for: paj'ment, and threo members ellgllbe were advanced to the third degree.

Murital Lodge No. 113, 1.0.0. F., N.Z., Eastbourne, held its fortnightly meeting last Wednesday evening, Bro. A. H. Hancox, N.G., presiding. Bros. V. .T. Jones, P.G., district treasurer, and J. F. Miller, P.G., deputy returning officer, were present. Reports were received from picnic delegate and Christmas Tree Committee, and the second nominations were taken for officers next term. The ballot for Grand Lodge representatives was conducted by the deputy-returning officer.

The fortnightly meeting of Wildey Lodge No. 107, 1.0.0. F., N.Z., Island Bay, was held last Wednesday evening, Bro. A. J. Craighead, N.G., presiding over a very good attendance. Candidates were nominated^ second nominations for officers for next term were received, and ballot for Grand Lodge representatives .was conducted by the district returning officer (Bro. J. Nind, P.G., P.C.P.).

Maraaui Lodge No. 124, 1.0.0. F., N.Z., Miramar, held Its fortnightly meeting last Wednesday evening, Bro. N. Gray, N.G., presiding over a good attendance of. members and visitors. Six candidates were nominated, second nominations were taken for officers for next term, candidates for district ritual badge competition were selected, and ballot for Grand Lodge representatives were conducted by Bra. J. Nind, P.G., P.C.P., district returning officer.

The fortnightly meeting of Walwnetu Lodge No. 136, 1.0.0. F., N.Z., Trentham, .was hold last Thursday evening, Bro. YV. S. Cowley, N.G., presiding over a good attendance. Sec-, ond nominations were received for officers for the ensuing term, notice of motion was given to chango meeting night, and ballot for Grand Lodge representatives was conductod by the deputy-returning officer.

Victoria Rebekah Lodge No. 2, 1.0.0. F., N.Z., Newtown-, held Its fortnightly meeting last Thursday evening, Sister M. Shepherd, N.G., presiding over a large attendance. Second nominations for officers for next term were taken, ballot for Grand Lodge representatives was conducted by the district returning officer (Bro. J. Nind, P.G., P.C.P.), and lodge representatives in district ritual lodge competition were selected. The fortnightly meeting of Southern Cross Lodge No. 24, 1.0.0. F., N.Z., was. held last Thursday evening, Bro. W. Keilly, N.G., presiding. There was a very good attendance, visitors including Bro. K. Baldry, P.G., Star of Gisborne Lodge No. .61. Five candidates were nominated, second nominations or officers for the ensuing term wore received, and a ballot for Grand Lodge representatives was conducted by the district returning officer. Otaki lodße No. 133, I-0.0.F., N.Z.,held its fortnightly meeting last Friday evening, 'Bro. H. Small, P.G., presiding over a very good attendance. An official visit was received from the district deputy grandmaster (Bro. H. Dalnes, P.G.), accompanied by Bros. J. H. West, P.G., district degree master, F.. J. Jones, p n district treasurer, G. F. Rudkln, P.l>-, district secretary, R. W. Wheeler P. G deputy degree master, J. Nind, P.G., P.C.P., D. D. G. Marshal, Bros. J. C. S. Turner, P G., and B. D Turner, Murital Lodge, Bros. C. E.
