NELSON, 29th November
One of the events of the A. and P. Show on Saturday was a road' cycle race to BeJgrove and back, a distance of about thirty miles. The road was muddy, and thirteen competitors started from in front of the grandstand, and the finish was a cloße one, little over a minute separating the first and second men. The result •was: D. S'trawbridge (Mmm), llir. 45miu 28sec, 1; C. Boyce (lOniin), Ihr 46min 3sec, 2. The gold medal for the'fastest time was won by the fifth .man, C. Teecc (2% tniii). Ihr 52min.;25see. Owine to the weather only one motorcycle race was got off, the President's Handicap, six laps, which resulted: H. Manghara, Wellingtou (scr), 7-9 HurleyDavidson, 1; J. Stone, Nelson (TOsec), 2% A.J.S., 2; C. Stone, 'Nelson (70scc), 2% A.J.S., 3. There were three other competitors. Mangham won by about 100 yds. Time, Omin 20scc. The 100 yds and 220 yds events were both ■won by 1?. H. Griffin. For selling butter continuing more moisture than allowed by the regulations, the Waimea Dairy Company (manufacturers), H. Coltman and Co. (wholesale agents for the company), and the "Workers' Co-opera-tive (retailers) were charged by the health inspector, Mr. H. O. York, this morning. Senior-Sergeant Barrett prosecuted. The Magistrate said there was no suggestion of wilful fraud.
