POLITICAL CRISIS
THINGS HAPPENING IN NEW SOUTH WALES. (Received 19th November, 2.45 p.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. It. is understood that the political crisis was, to some extent, hastened by the unexpected issue of a proclamation bringing into operation the Bill recently passed providing for single Parliamentary seats in place of tho former proportional representation system. This Btepwas taken after a meeting of the Executive Council and without consulting the Labous caucus, which had anticipated that it would be given an opportunity of expressing its opinion on the subject. Many members on both sides are opposed to- tho redistribution scheme, and the arbitrary assumption by Mr. Lang of the powers conferred upon him at the recent Australian Party Conference is strongly resented by somo members cf his party, including Mr. Loughlin.
