GRAND CONCERT.
Had it been more generally known that such a fine programme was to be presented, there would doubtless have been a'much larger attendance at the concert held last evening in the Tow.! Hall by the Amateur Radio Society of Wellington in aid .of the fund for tho purchase of a broadcast receiver for the AYellington Hospital! The .programme,: arranged by Mrs. Ivan M. Levy,.was a particularly fine one, and the audience was very enthusiastic in its appreciation of the music provided. The Port Nicholson Silver Band, under the baton of Mr. J. J. Drew, rendered "Raymond": (Thomasv, "Gems from Rossini," and a march; ■" 8.8. and G.F." Mr. A. Petri sang "The Wheel Tapper's Song." and a flute solo, "Wind Amongst the Trees," by Mr. Claude Tucker, was very much appreciated. Mrs. J. F. Woodward sang "Spring Dropped a Song Into My Heart" (Sellner) with very fine feeling, and a 'cello solo by Mr. George Ellwodd was very w„h received. "The Song of the.yolga Boatmen," by Mr. Tom Wood, organ solos .'by Mr. -C. W. Kerry, vocal quartettes 'by the Lyric Four (Messrs. Phipps, Howe, Goudie, and Brown), a musical; monologue by ,My. Norman Aitken, and a song, "At Dawning," by Mrs. P. Townley, were other items. Mr. W. G. Stevenson, champion cornettist of- New' Zealand, accompanied by the band, gave two very fine solos, and a violin solo by ,Mr. L. J. De Manny was very pleasing. Mr. A. Stanley Warwick rendered elocutionary items with fine expression. The accompaniments were played by Mr. Harold Whittle, and Miss Spinks. The artists' services were all given gratuitously..
