ACCOUNTANTS' SOCIETY DEBATE
The- -tenth annual debate between the Christchurch ami Wellington Accountant Students' Society will be held in the Accountants' Chambers to-mor-row evening. The subject of debate is "That it ia in the best interests of the Dominion that further encouragement be accorded our secondary industries by means of increased protective tariffs." This subject is engaging a groat deal of attention at the present timo on account of the timber and iron industries applying to Parliament for increased protection. The Christchurch ciety will affirm the subject, and the "Wellington Society will oppose it. Messrs. E. It. Norman (leader), L. O. Atkinson, and P. 11. Harris will represent the Wellington Society, and Mr. O. C. Mazengarb, M.A., LL.M., barrister, will officiate as judge. A handsome shield, presented for competition by Mr. William E. Best, of Christchurch, has been won by the Wellington Society six times and by the Christchurch Society on three occasions.
