"IN OLD CASTILE."
In past years the annual dance recital presented by Misb Kathleen O'Brien and her pupils has been a feature of the tneatrical season, and the latest production by this teacher and her talenfed pupils takes place at the Grand Opera House next Saturday evening. It is expected to surpass even the successes oi former years. Artistic settings, original ballets, brilliant frocking, and beautiful lighting effects are but a few of the features of the production. A delightful romance in the atmosphere of Old Spain raises the main scene of this performance to professional standard. Mr. Oliver Gillespio has written the libyetto, and the costumes are genuine replicas of those days. The cast includes Miss Kathleen O'Brien. Mr. Pat Wnrd, Sir. Lionel Inch, and Miss Pauiuso Shotlander. A special feature- of this scene will be the Spanish tango, "Micouquita," liy Miss O'Brien nnd Mr. Ward A joy-' ous carnival scene and a clever acrobatic ' ballet are seen, in which the solo is
taken by Ruby Fisher. A novel^featuro will be the appearance on the stags of Allan's Jazz Band, of eight, which _ is - making its initial appearance in Wellington.' Miss Violet Owler lakes tho s>ong solo. A special treat will be ten juinues of tho "Baby Class," in which forty-five tiny tots, whoso ages range from four to six years, will perform, A rollicking item will be the Sailor's Horn- ! pipe Ballet, and other ballets are. a graceful classic dnncc, an operatic scene, and a gorgeous butterfly act A touch of comedy is supplied in the orphan song and dance scena from "Sally," in which Zita Hare'does a difficult skipping dnnce and Nellie Doull takes the name part. Others dancers .appearing are Frances , Clisby Hazel Martin, Jimmy Lockwood, Joyce Banks, Phyllis Linklater, Lorraine Melton, Joan Bain, Majory Vause, Elsie Swanson, Dorothy Daniells, Thelma Bartholomew, Eunice Scott, and Bessy Howatt.
