P. AND T. OFFICERS
AND ALLIANCE OF LABOUR EMBARGO OF GOVERNMENT. The Post and Telegraph Officers' Association sat yesterday afternoon and discussed the annual report, and the' balance-sheet of the association, as presented by the secretary, and they were finally adopted unanimously. The business in connection with disposing of the various remits was then proceeded with, and was continued this morning. . The first important matter dealt with was that of the relations of the association towards affiliation with the Alliance of Labour. This resulted in a lengthy discussion, but finally the following motion was adopted:— "That this conference recommends that so soon as the Government withdraws its embargo on affiliation with the Alliance of Labour, the attitude of the members of the association thereto be ascertained by a further postal ballot on the question. ' "Further, this conference reaffirms its belief that the Post and Telegraph Officers' Association has always possessed the constitutional right to organise along such lawful lines as it thinks fit, and again expresses the belief that the embargo placed by the Government on the association's intention to affiliate with the Alliance of Labour was unconstitutionally imposed." Several minor matters were disposed of, and . the conference adjourned till this afternoon.
