NEW ZEALAND COUNCIL MEETING
A meeting %! the council of the New Zealand Football Association was held last evening, Mr. F. Campbell presiding. There were-also present: Messrs. 1. Sanders, A. Hyder, W. G. Bryce P. Rose H. I. Graves, B. L. Salmon' and J. J. Roberts. ' The Australian F.A. wrote advising it was impossible for the English tourin°team to visit New Zealand. . ° _ A letter was received from the secretary of the China United Soccer Association (through the Christchurch Asso- I elation), suggesting that- a Chinese team ' should visit New Zealand in 1926. It was decided to write to the secretary of the association at Hong Kong seeking further particulars in connection with the matter. The South Auckland Football Association notified that Mr. H. H. Howden ' of Hamilton, -had presented to the association a shield to be held by the champion club of the South Auckland area each season. Mr. Howden, it was stated some years ago donated the Howden Oup, and consequently his added presentation was deserving of warmest thanks. ■The council decided to write thanking Mr. Howden for his gift. The council agreed to Institute (Wei-', lington) withdrawing from the Chatham Gup competition. Though the .council sympathised with Institute in their recent loss of players, it was made clear by delegates that the line of action was not to,be taken as a precedent. ■•" The secretary of the New Zealand Referees_ Association notified that Mr. E. Parkinson had'been., appointed to referee the North Auckland v. Auckland' Brown Shield match.
