THE EASTERN FAIR

A TREMENDOUS SUCCESS

SPLENDID CONCLUDING FUNCTIONS.

Last night at the Town Hall, when the programme included an auction sale of left-over goods as well as beautiful tableaux, arranged by Miss Youmans and Mrs. Tovey, with a charming incidental dance by Miss JMarjorie Buckeridge, and other fine attractions, thoro was not really comfortable standing room either upstairs or down, 40 great was tho crowd that attended the fair. The appeal to tho hearts and sympathies of tho people mado by the mission, with its splendid work—sorely in need of the means of extension—and the call to those merely in search of anmsomont, which is provided generously, caused a wonderful gathering to assomble, and those who arranged suck an excellent "show" aro to- be heartily congratulated. It is to be hoped that these generous workers will not be disappointed in theU hope and expectation of the remaining cheques of £50 each, to make up the £500 necessary to gain the first fifty. This afternoon high revel is being held at the hall by tho children. Paper frocks aro to be the order of the day, and prizes will bo given for some of the best and most original, therefore tho Eastern Fair promoters will have- provided a happy time for the young as well as many older folk. Thcroare great anticipations of enjoyment for to-night., when tho great Oriental Ball is coining off, for there will bo seen tho gorgeous costumes that liavo appeared in tableaux, as well as many more, and tho Eveuu should bo a wonderfully bi-isfht nml picturesque one, well worth a visit. Tho dancers -will bu delighted with tho lirstdass music, tho good floor, and (ho inexpensive entrance foe. as well as the prospect of a real evening's fun and frolic There is no doubt whatever of a brilliant conclusion of a wonderfully successful effort, the results of which will bo fur-reach-ing in bonotits to those who are in soro need of them.
