WELLINGTON COLLEGES

BOARD OF GOVERNORS,

The Wellington College Board of Governors met yesterday afternoon, the chairman (Sir. W. F. Ward) presiding. The Old Boys' Association wrote stating that its committee had decided to carry out the jubilee celebration on the next Old Boys' Day on Ist December next, 17th October lieing the actual jubilee date of Wellington College si?ce it has stood on its present site. The board agreed to a suggestion in connection with the arrangements for the celebrations that a joint, conference should be held between four representatives each of the Board of Governors, the College Masters, and the Old Boys' Association.

The letter announced that the present intention of the 0.8. Assocation was that a grand concert, together with speeches in connection with tho jubilee, should be held in the Town Hall, :» procession, and a. church service in the Town Hull on the Sunday. It was also intended that Firth House should be opened on Old Boys' Day.

The board agreed to a suggestion that application should be made to the Government, a claim for a grant of £150 towards expenses' irSffrred in carrying out the programme.

The board expressed satisfaction at the excellence of the reports on both colleges.

Arrangements were made for the ceremony in connection with the laying of the foundation-stone of., the new Girls' College building, and also preliminaries discussed as to the staff required.
