RUGBY PLAYER'S DEATH.
WESTPORT 21st June.
At an inquest tou'ehing the death of William King, in Westport Hospital on Friday morning, evidence was given to show that deceased, from a breakaway in a line-out in a junior football match at Trinity on the preceding Saturday, received a kick or knock from a knee, but recovered sufficiently to play on a little, longer. When he left the field he became seriously ill, and was that night removed to Westport Hospital, k where he 'died on Friday. A verdict was returned that death was the result of injuries to the abodmen accidentally received in a football match.
The funeral took place on Saturday afternoon. A lenthy cortege included officials of the Buller Rugby Union and footballers from , all the clubs in the district. The hearse was preceded by members of the Rover Club, of which deceased was a member, and an impressive service at the graveside was conducted 'by the Rev. Neligan, of Granitv.
