WELLINGTON v. WESLEY.
Wesley, gave one of their best exhibitions to date in their game with Wellington. The Wellington team was not as strong as usual, two younger players filling the places of Armstrong and Webster, who were not available. The muddy state of the ground militated against a bright display of hockey. The game had not long commenced, before L. Bpyd, at' bully, scored for Wellington. This score had effect on Wesley, who * quickly, got into-their-stride, anl broke away in several promising rushes, Watkiuson being prominent. Martis, .Ashwin, Thompson, and .Tacobsen were "too sound, however, for tiie Wesley men to open their scoring account. By good defensive work, the Wesley backs were able to prevent Wellington from adding to their score in the first spell. Wesley were called upon to do most of the defending in the second spell, and with their forwards not giving the backs the desired amount of support, Wellington rattled on three more goals, scored by Boyd (2) aiid O'Brien. Wesley were unable to score, and the whistle announced "time" with victory to Wellington by 4 goals to nil. Mr. Hatch controlled the game. • ■ ■ .
