HUTT A v. KARORI.

The Hutt A men are able to attribute their win to their better understanding of each other's methods of play, and to the lack of combination shown by the Karori forward line. Erom the opening bully; Karori rushed their opponents, and had them defending in the circle. Two chances v of scoring were missed by Karori, Lewer, by faulty shooting, failing to find the net on two successive attempts. Sound defence by the Hutt fullbacks, G. and F. Lusty, soon had the 'ball in mid-field again: butt's left winger, Smith, dashed' lip the line with a fine turn of speed, and sent the ball into the net, but was recalled for off-side play. A good centre from Slater, on Hutt's right wing, saw R. Lusty score Hutt's first goal, with a neat shot. Hutt A 1, Karori 0. The first spell ended without further score. Shortly after resuming Hutt • secured, and Webley, with a good solo effort, in which he beat several of the defenders, netted with a shot which gave goalkeeper Brennan no chance. Enlivened by the turn of events and urged on by their supporters on the line, the Karori men strove hard to make an impression on the Hutt. defence. Perrin, Watchman, Lloyd, and Cooper all put in their best, work, but found Hutt impregnable, the'game ending Hutt 2, Karori 0. Mr. Lloyd was the referee.
