EMPHATIC PROTEST
SUSPENSION OF SCHOOL SPORT.
Information that all school, football and':other outdoor'sports had b^en closed down on account, of the outbreak of diphtheria' was given to tho Wellington Rugby Union on Tuesday, tho informant stating that-a circular regarding the matter would probably be issued to-day. " What excuse do they give' for such action?" asked a member.
The schools' representative: "That, one school may give it to another.. All healthy pastimes have, been closed down." .
Another member: '" it seems to be a ridiculous action for them' to take. They leave the picture shows open and-stop boys hum running about in the fresh air."' ' •• - . '
Mr. Millard:' " It is far more dangerous for tlie boys to go to school during the day than ■• to go: out and play football." ... . ... .
Tho Rugby Union Committee was. unanimously of the opinion that the proposed stoppage of outdoor sports among the school children was most undesirable, and docid«d that, having heard that a circular was to be issued, the committee should enter an emphatic protest.
