Fowlds's letter to Mr. Maesey protesting against further large grants to the Otago Medical and Dental Schools, cave figures showing' the districts from which the students in the Medical.and Dental Schools came—the Medical School, for the . two years named by Mr. Fowlds, apd . the Dental School for laet year. Mr. i Fowlds said from Otairo, in 1921, there: came 54 students. The actual number, in that yenr'was 27. 1n'1922,/'M>'| Fowlds said, 34 came from Otago j^'t.'ie' actual number was 9. Canterbury, in 1921. was credited by Mr. Fowlds "with; .7 students, whereas the actual number of Canterbury students at the Medical School was 15. For the year, following, Mr. Fowlds' credited Canterbury with 1 student, instead of 7. For Victoria Golle.se .district in 1921, Mr. Fowlds gave, ths number as 7, whereas tho actual number was 20; and for 1922 he gave only 4, in place of 18. In 1921, Mr. Fowlds said there came from Auckland district 11, but there were 14; for 1922, his figure was 14 instead. of 19. For the. present year the total number of medical students was 357. of whom 140 resided in Ota,go University district, 50 in Canterbury, 103 in the Victoria Collese district, and 61 in the Auckland district. It was fended to send the correct figures to Mr. Massey. ' , \
