PREFERENCE TO SOLDIERS
A SOUTHERN LAND BALLOT.
(BY TELEGP.APH.—MESS ASSOCIATION.) CHRISTCHUB.CH, 20th June. . A deputation of the Returned Soldiers' Association waited on the Land Board to ask for absolute preference for returned soldiers in the ballot for -6CCO acres |at Waiha<j, near Waimate. The deputation said that Mr. Massey had been approached, . and. had replied that preference would be given to suitable soldier applicants; but the R.S.A. asked for absolute preference. Ths Commissioner replied that soldiers t ho were financially strong would have preference.
