ROME, 10th May,

A succession of violent earthquakes have occurred at Sebenico, Dalmatia, during the past week. The inhabitants are leaving their houses, many of which have been levelled to the ground.

Sebenico is a picturesque town, with a population of over 30,000, standing on a land-locked bay of the Adriatic. The chief ornament of the town is its cathedral, whiph was built between 1400 and 1555.
