THE KELBURN TRAM
PURCHASE PROPOSAL DEFEATED.
The proposal for the purchase of the Kelburn cable tramway was defeated by an almost three-to-one majority. Four returns are not to hand, but they cannot possibly affect the issue, which was placed beyond doubt at tfie majority of the booths. Northland and one Karori booth were' the only booths at . which the purchase was favoured. Of the total of 23,557 ratepayers on the roll about 10,000 exercised their votes.
