HOSPITAL BOARD
ONE RETURN- STILL TO COME,
The Hospital Board returns were incomplete when "The Post" went io press, one return from Newtown Library being still due. The figures given below, therefore, are subject to amendment, and there may be changes amorig the first 1 fourteen. The Rev. H. Van Staveren headed the poll with over 14,----000 votes, with the chairman of the board, Mr. F. Castle, next. Labour appears to have fared badly, and on tbf ■present figures will have but one representative, Mr. C. H. Chapman. Mrs. At' Vicar is the only woman figuring among the first fourteen. Mrs. Janet Fraser is sixteenth on- the list, and the defeat Mrs. Snow, a member of the former board, seems certain. Another retiring member, Mr. John Glover (Labour) faces defeat. All but one of the citizens' "ticket" are among the likely members of the new board. Mr. W. Cole is fifteenth on the list, and it is possible j that his position will be bettered either j when the outstanding figures are added on or when the recount takes place.
