SOVIET' ICE-BREAKER.

The Mercantile Dry Dock Company, Ltd., of Jarrow, England, have completed a specially interesting repair and overhaul job. They have had in their hands since 25th March the Soviet Government's ice-breaker Lenin, which they ' have -reconditioned and made fit for wjnter service among ice.. The vessel's oil-fuel apparatus has also been overhauled, and additional auxiliaries have been provided. The Lenin is a Tyne-built ship, having been constructed as the St. Alexandra Nevsky in 1917 by Sir W. G. Armstrong Whitworth and Qt>. for the then Russian Government, so it was fitting that she should come back to the Tyne for overhauling. She has now sailed for Petrograd under Soviet

command.
