WORK ON THE CLYDE.
The Clyde seems to be rapidly clearing off the now liners which it has been fitting out recently. The. P. and 0. steamer Bendigo, as already announced, has been running trials. , So has the South American liner Aconcagua, built b> Scott's Shipbuilding and Engineering Company, Ltd.,' Greenocfc, for a . new service between Valparaiso, New York, and European ports, via the Panama Canal. The C.P.R. liner Montclare—last of the group of three "M" class boats built on the Clyde—has been completed by. Messrs. John Brown and Co., Ltd.', Clydebank, and is now in service. At Dumbarton Messrs. William Denny and Bros., Ltd., have the Nippon Yusen Kaisha liner Ngasaki Maru well advanced towards completion * while the sister ship Shanghai Maru should be ready for launching soon. These vessels are to be put on the service between Hamburg and the Far East, the first at' the beginning of November and the secoiid at the beginning of December. It is expected (states the " Syren" ) that they will reduce the voyage to Shanghai to thirtysix days and that to Kobe to forty days,' and also that they will be &c finest passenger vessels on these routes..
