Fiv« •, first-offending inebriate* were dealt with by Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., at the Magistrate's Court to-day. Peter Singleton, who had three previous convictions for drunkenness against him, was fined £1, in default three days in gaol. Patrick Joseph Dailly, for drunkenness, was fined 10s} in default fc#ty-eight hours in gaol. For resisting Constable Marsh, Joseph Carroll was sentenced to. fourteer days' imprisonment. He was also convicted and discharged on a.charge of assaulting Albert Norman Sutherland. On a charge, of w'Mfully damaging a pane of glass, valued at £1, the property, of Chai'lotte Amelia Fairchild, Robert John Ashley was fined 10s, and ordered to make good tho damage. Arthur. Gordon Kale, chargecl , with indecent assa-ulr, was remanded to appear at'Carterton on Wednesday.
