MR. EDWARD RHODES.
Mr. Edward Rhodes, another of the pioneers of the Auckland Province, died on Friday at the" ripe age of 93. Mr. Rhodes,' who was a native of Yorkshire, arrived in New Zealand in 1854, and remained in the Auckland district evei since. He was one of the first' to take up land at the Razorback, which was then on the outskirts of settlement. / He was forced to leave his farm during the dangerous days of the Maori War. Over forty years ■■ ago Mr. Rhodes bought a farm at Tamahere, which he occupied until his retirement about 1909, when he went toliye at Epsom. He leaves three sons, Mr. Charles Rhodes (of Remucra;, Mr. H. Rhodes (of Paterangi), Mr. F. Rhodes (of Feilding), and two unmarried daughters, both of whom reside in Auckland. ■
