C. Morton, in his eighty-fifth year. Mr. Morton was born in Warwickshire, England, whera his father was a well-known railway contractor., ! ... A letter was received from Colonel G. F. C. Campbell at yesterday's meeting of the Wellington branch of the Navy League stating that it was with regret that he was resigning from the league, both as chairman of the Executive Committee, and as a member. The resignation was received with regret, and Mr. A. F. Roberts was elected to the chair for the remainder of the year. , The Right Rev. M. . Brodie, D.D., Roman Catholic Bishop of Christchurch, left Christchurch on Monday on his way to Rome. He will first visit his mother in Auckland, and will leave for Sydney on 9th. February. He will then join ,the i Very Eev. Father Coffey, Administrator 'at Dunedin, and together they -will sail for Naples. Subsequently Bishop Brodie will visit France and Belgium, and later England and Ireland. He expects „to return to ChristchuTch towards 'the close of the year. During hie absence the'Very-Rev.1 Dean Bowers will act as Administrator of the diocese.
