TAffiAPE, This. Day. At the Hihitahi sawmill a hand named Joseph Mear had a sensational experience with a twin saw. He was working on a saw-bench while the saws were stationary, when,a swinging bolt gripped tho saw puHoy sufficiently to start both saws. The top saw inflicted a wound from'the centre of Mear's forehead over to the base of the skull at the back, the skull being only saved from being halved by the belt swinging.off ithe pulley again. Mear was taken to the Taihape Hospital.
