H.M.S. CHATHAM

DUE AT WELLINGTON ON

MONDAY.

His Majesty's light-cruiser Chatham, flagship of the New Zealand Navy, left Auckland at' 7:15 o'clock this morning for Wellington. She is expected to arrive at Wellington early on Monday morning. The Chatham, which is in command of Captain. Alan G. Hotham, C.M.G., was built in 19,11, and is a sister ship to the Southampton and Dublin, both of which were completed in 1912. The cruiser has a displacement of 5400 tons, and her main dimensions are:

Length, 457 feet; beam, 49 5.6 feet. She is driven by oil fuel and can attain a speed of 24.75 knots. Her armament consists of 8 six-inch guns, 4 three-pound-ers, 4 machine-guns, and 2 twenty-one-inch torpedo tubes. The Chatham's .complement totals 391.
